Foundation and Community Engagement Director

Summary

The Director of Community Engagement and Foundation Operations is responsible for leading strategic initiatives that strengthen community partnerships, oversee fundraising efforts and philanthropic initiatives, and ensure effective management of foundation activities aligned with the district’s mission and goals. This role oversees operations of a non-profit organization in coordination with school principals, district departments, and executive leadership, while cultivating an inclusive and high-performing team environment.

 

Description

Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 19, 2025. Key Responsibilities 1. Community & Alumni Engagement *Serve as liaison between the district and community partners to promote public education initiatives. *Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, alumni, donors, civic groups, and business leaders. 2. Foundation & Non-Profit Operations *Manage day-to-day operations of the district-affiliated foundation, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements. *Oversee financial management including budget preparation, fiscal oversight, and reporting. *Understanding public procurement policy and procedures 3. Fundraising & Grant Development *Design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual campaigns, major gifts, and planned giving. *Lead all aspects of grant writing and reporting to secure public and private funding. 4. Board & Administrative Coordination *Provide strategic support and communication to the foundation board; prepare agendas, reports, and meeting materials. *Collaborate regularly with school principals, district departments, and district leadership to align initiatives and priorities. 5. Communications *Guide the creation of promotional and informational materials; manage public relations efforts related to foundation initiatives. *Maintain transparency and consistent communication with stakeholders and partners. *Student and family recruitment Minimum Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree in education, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related field. *Master’s degree preferred. 2. Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field (education, nonprofit, community engagement, or philanthropy). 3. Demonstrated experience in fundraising, grant writing, event coordination, and team development. 4. Experience working with boards and managing nonprofit fiscal operations. Preferred Attributes 1. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. 2. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. 3. Knowledge of public-school systems and community development principles. 4. Proficient in donor databases, Customer Relationship Management (CRM systems), and grant platforms. 5. Experience in schools, as school leader or district level director This is a full time position-8 hours per day/255 days per year.
